Martin Cooke Adjunct Assistant Professor

Martin Cooke currently works at Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), primarily teaching Presentation Skills, Negotiation, Discussion and Public Speaking, Business Reading and Discussion, Meetings Skills, Report Essentials, etc. Since 2010, Martin has been dedicated to teaching and education, and has served at TAITRA as a full-time English Instructor since 2016. From 2006 to 2009, Martin worked in the UK financial industry for Barclays and Capita Financial Managers, building a knowledge foundation of the international finance market. Martin is experienced in not only education but also finance.

Martin Cooke holds a Trinity DipTESOL certification from Trinity College London, a Master of Business, Marketing, and Management from the University of Leeds, and a Bachelor of International Politics from Aberystwyth University. He was the winner of IATEFL TDSIG Michael Berman Scholarship Prize in 2016. Martin has also published English language teaching (ELT) articles in Humanising Language Teaching (HLT), EFL Magazine, and TESOL Press. Meanwhile, he also participates in workshops and presentations delivered at ELT conferences, e.g., the GiLE4Youth International Conference, the Confluence symposium of Hong Kong Baptist University, the International Conference on English Education of Shih Chien University, CAES International Conference of the University of Hong Kong.

The major fields of Martin’s research are including Business English, Public Speaking and Presentation Skills, and Teacher Development.
